Acquia recommends that customer applications with Personalization and Acquia Content Hub 1.x, upgrade their applications to Drupal 9.x as soon as possible. Content Hub 1.x is currently compatible with Drupal 9.x, and support for Drupal 8.x applications will end Tuesday, 2 November 2021.
It is urgent that you upgrade to Drupal 9.x as soon as possible to ensure that your Drupal application continues to be secure and Content Hub continues to function as expected.
Additionally, for customer applications only using Content Hub's syndication service, we recommend upgrading to Content Hub 2.x, which is already Drupal 9.x compatible. An upgrade tool exists to help customers with their upgrade.
Support for Drupal 8.x applications is ending
On 29 June 2021, Drupal.org announced that support for Drupal 8.x applications will end Tuesday, 2 November 2021. At that time, there will be no more security patches or bug fixes provided for Drupal 8 applications. As a result, Acquia will also end support for Drupal 8 applications on 2 November 2021.
Q: Is there any action required on my part?
Yes. Customers with applications using Drupal 8.x will need to upgrade their applications to Drupal 9.x. For additional resources to assist with your upgrade, please see our blog post, "How to Prepare Your Drupal 8 Site to Move to Drupal 9."
Q: What is the deadline for this upgrade?
After 2 November 2021, there will be no new projects, bug fixes for existing projects, or documentation for Drupal 8 from the Drupal community. Additionally, the Drupal.org security team will not provide Security Advisories for Drupal 8 after that date. You should consider Drupal 8 an insecure application after 2 November 2021, and therefore update your application to Drupal 9.x as soon as possible.
Q: Will there be any downtime for my non-production environments or production application?
We do not anticipate any downtime for your application infrastructure when you upgrade your application to Drupal 9.x. However, when you are upgrading your application's Drupal version, careful development and quality assurance testing are necessary for successful production deployment. We highly recommend reviewing our blog post, "How to Prepare Your Drupal 8 Site to Move to Drupal 9," to access additional resources to assist with your upgrade.
Q: What if I am using Content Hub 2.x? Is it compatible with Drupal 9.x?
Content Hub 2.x is already compatible with Drupal 9.x.
Note: If your application uses Content Hub's syndication service, we recommend using our upgrade tooling to upgrade to Content Hub 2.x, which is also Drupal 9.x compatible.
